HOPEWELL, Va. (WTVR) - Police and school officials are investigating who vandalized Hopewell High School with graffiti. The vandalism was discovered around campus and on school vehicles Monday morning.
CBS 6 senior reporter Wayne Covil, who has been reporting in Central Virginia since 1994, said it was the most graffiti he had ever seen at a school.
Maintenance workers told Covil it would take a week to clean-up the vandalism.
Hopewell High School underwent a $24 million renovation between 2009 and 2012, according to a report on Progress-Index.com.
"The facade is brand new," Hopewell Schools spokesman Brian Capaldo told the newspaper in 2012 once renovations were completed. "It is much more modern. The facing is different and the brickwork was redone."
CBS 6 senior reporter Wayne Covil has remained on campus and will continue reporting on WTVR.com and CBS 6 News.
