CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- A  Meadowbrook High School student has been charged after a sprinkler in a classroom activated, spraying water inside the school Monday.

Chesterfield fire crews said that the single sprinkler head flooded at least two classrooms and a hallway activated in a classroom.

After a joint investigation by Chesterfield fire and police, a student was charged for causing the sprinkler head to activate.

The student was charged with vandalism, disorderly conduct, and maliciously activating a fire alarm in a public building.

During the incident, Meadowbrook High students were evacuated to the football field around 1 p.m., but were allowed back inside the school before dismissal.

Last May, a student flew a toy helicopter into a sprinkler inside a Cosby High School classroom, causing the sprinkler to soak students and their belongings.
