YORK COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who ran over a pit bull puppy on purpose Tuesday evening.

The sheriff’s office said a witness saw a man driving southbound on Hubbard Lane towards Penniman Road stop his vehicle near Hillside Lane.

That’s when he lowered a young pit bull onto the street, then accelerated and ran over the animal, according o the witness. The puppy, estimated to be between 5-8 weeks old, died a short time later.

The man is described as a black male, about 30-50 years old with short curly hair. He was driving a navy van or SUV that may be an older, boxy-type Chevrolet with a very distinctive thick, white stripe around the entire vehicle.

Deputies checked the area, but were unable to locate the suspect or the vehicle.
