RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — More than 3,000 customers were without power Tuesday afternoon in Central Virginia as a powerful cold front swept through the area.
According to Dominion Power’s outage tracker, 1,616 customers in Richmond were without power as of 1:22 p.m. Additionally, 1,368 Henrico customers as well as 144 folks in Chesterfield were in the dark.
The CBS 6 Storm Team says afternoon storms may contain strong, damaging winds.
A CBS 6 viewer said his apartment complex on North Avenue lost power just after 1 p.m. when the winds started to pick up.
Dominion officials said the winds snapped a power pole on Forest Hill Avenue and that broken branches likely were responsible for other downed lines.
Officials said that many customers power had been restored as of 2 p.m. However, crews hope to have all area repairs completed by 5 p.m.
