RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)–Spring’s breezes have blown some good news into Richmond for Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.

It’s not just locals who recognize the beauty of the 50-acres in Richmond’s north side that we know as the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.

The garden just recently placed in the winner’s circle of USA Today’s “10 Best Reader’s Choice” contest for Best Public Garden in North America.

Lewis Ginter competed against public gardens as far away as Victoria, B.C. or Hawaii and as close by as Pennsylvania. See the full list here.

They placed second, only behind The Longwood Gardens, in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

For comparison, Lewis Ginter Public Relations spokesperson Jonah Holland said that Longwood Gardens get 1.1 million visitors per year, and have 50,000 members.

Lewis Ginter welcomes 349,700 visitors per year, and has 13,000 members.
