EMPORIA, Va. (WTVR) – The general manager of a Florida truck stop said the trucker who stole $1,500 worth of fuel from a Virginia truck stop hit her business too.

The manager of Simmons Travel Plaza in Emporia, off Interstate 95 near the Virginia-North Carolina line, said a truck driver pulled up to the pumps Sunday, spent 25 minutes filling multiple fuel tanks and then drove off without paying the $1,500 tab.

She said a man driving a truck that fit the description of the truck used in the Virginia fuel theft appeared at the Penn Oil Truck Stop on Interstate 74 in Jasper, Fla.

"He came in the store, but had his head down the whole time," Denise Webb told CBS 6 senior reporter Wayne Covil.

Webb said the trucker drove off without paying for the $856 in fuel he pumped into his truck that day. She said unlike the Emporia fuel theft, during the Florida theft the truck was hauling a trailer.

Webb said the theft was reported to the Hamilton County, Fla. Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office was working to confirm a report was filed.

Anyone with information about the Virginia fuel theft is asked to call the Greensville County Sheriff’s Office at (434) 348-4200.
