RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond Police have identified the man shot and killed Monday night in South Richmond.

Kiarri K. Edwards, 34, of Granite Hill Circle, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police responded to a shots fired call at the intersection of 20th Street and Dinwiddie Avenue, off Jeff Davis Highway about 11:15 p.m.

"When they arrived, they located three shooting victims," Richmond Police spokesman Gene Lepley wrote in an email. "One of the victims, a male in his mid-30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The other two victims, males in their 20s, were transported to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries."

While investigators collected evidence and interviewed witnesses, police said it did not appear the shooting was "a random act."

"Detectives are making good progress with their investigation but they still need additional information to help them solve the case," police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.

Jeeze, enough with the shootings already. Take a deep breath, sit down at the table, and let your minds do the work. But if you feel you must use the gun, take a few lessons, or put some glasses on anyway!

That area was dodgy 25 years ago and nothing has changed. Seems like any fool can have a gun these days and uses it at the drop of a hat.

The situation is a sad one – all of the violence. However, i believe it is pretty ignorant to generalize “black people” as oposed to those people commiting these crimes. It always been interesting how white people are individuals when they committ offenses or do anything wrong but a black person represents all black people when they do something wrong. I grew up in southside Richmond. ED Redd elementary, Thompson middle, and Huguenot high school. Went to a major “white” college and then graduated from law school at the top of my class. Contrary to what you have been groomed to believe, the news doesn’t represent “all” black people..

Counselor calvin. Since you graduated top of your class, Kindly show the court where Smarty Pants scripted “all” in reference to black people as you cited in you diatribe?

Did the “white” college groom you to race bait?

Sadly, there is alot of crime in the city, but crime is crime that someone decided to do. Its not fair to always put blacks in one circle. Just like blacks, whites committ crimes also. You need to judge the individual, not the race as a whole. i know in the public housing areas things are rough, but believe it or not, many of the crimes committed in these areas are NOT committed by the people that live there or no where near by. Im sick of some of you people thats always acting as if only blacks committ crimes, take a look in the Gotcha paper weekly, you will see just as many whites mugshots as blacks. i guess someone is going to say next that blacks committ more crimes, maybe so, in this city, but trust and believe, there are other states where whites are worse . Thats just like if a white person kill some one, first thing some of you would do is say “well they dont jkill as much as blacks’, as far as im concerned,a crime is a crime. When the day comes when whites donot committ crimes at all, then you can say something, until then, be quiet because crime is crime and the only people thats responsible for crime is the people that committ them, therefore, that would be someone from every race. However, my heart goes out to the victim family. so sad

Give a shout out to Richmond Police the worse police force in the state thats scared to arrest people. Unlike Henrico and Chesterfield people are feeling more threaten then anything.. I mean really why should we have a police force if only thing they do is give people tickets?

Crimes are commited all over this city…and most of the projects are on the northside of the river…crimes are commited jus as much n henrico n the west end n chesterfield as well. Its jus not southside…prayers for keys family…its sad…n richmond all I can say..

I’m so tired of this black/white stuff. I don’t care about the color of any ones skin, race, or beliefs. JUST STOP THE CRIME!!!
Yes, there are all kinds of bad people. They choose to be that way. No matter their up bringing, they choose to do it and because of that people are being hurt in some many ways and even killed. AND FOR WHAT? Nothing that really matters. What really matters are families, friends, kids & people. You should care about the well being of others no matter who the are, even if you don’t know them.

LIFE PEOPLE! Live it, Love it, Value it, Respect it & EACH OTHER.

Really it’s that simple! we are too busy trying to make it about ourselves.

Why is this a neighborhood and a racial argument look at the caucassion who was shot during a fourth of july celebration from a stray bullet.Regardless to how this young man lived his life he was a very fun and loving person and showed love to every one to know him was to love him and he was definitely about the kids.I pray he killer is found and justice is served but that still will not bring our friend back. And every posting about where it happened and things of that nature it could happen anywhere!!!!!When God see it fit and its your time its your time one thing is certain we live to die his time was cut short but he lived!!!!!R.I.P KeeKEE

All this location and race talk needs to stop. You have a man who was a lovin father and had custody of his kids…He made u smile regardless of what type of mood you were in. Nobody talks about how a young BLACK man gets custody and try to do the rite thing for his kids. Whatever the lifestyle he lived or anyone for that matter, is not a reason for them to be taken away from their children…Nobody is talking about the 2 , dudes that got shot also…smdh.! KeeKee will will missed especially that loud voice. My prayers and my heart goes out to his family, but especially his kids, He loved them all so much ❤
