82-year-old driver charged after worker struck flagging West End traffic

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A county worker sustained a head injury, but was expected to make a full recovery, after he was struck by a car while flagging traffic on Derbyshire Road in Henrico's West End.

The incident happened Thursday morning near the intersection of Derbyshire and Gunby Rds., according to Henrico Public Works Director Steve Yob.

Andrew Gunn was flagging traffic around a crew removing leafs from a ditch, Yob said. A driver headed east on Derbyshire Rd. struck Gunn and continued to drive, Henrico Police spokeswoman Lt. Linda Toney said. The driver was located close to the accident scene.

Billye Leonard, 82, is charged with felony hit and run. She was released on a summons.
