RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – That’s all, folks. Well, at least it looks that way. Our snow season in Richmond likely ended last night (March 25), with a trace of snow reported at Richmond International Airport.

As you’d likely guess, we had an above-average snow season in Richmond for our Winter of 2013-2014. Here is the tally, broken down by months:

If we look, though, at the number of days we received at least a trace of snow at RIC, that amounts to 22 snow days this season (which is above-average). (March: 5 snow days…February: 6…January: 7…December: 2…November: 2 snow days). That’s what most of us lamented/loved.

In case you’re wondering, this season was nowhere close to touching the snowiest winters on record. Richmond’s record snowiest snow season is 1961-62, which accumulated 38.9″ of snow.

There is only about a 1% chance of getting measurable snowfall (at least a trace) in April. But there have been some BIG snowstorms in April. Take April 3, 1915, which holds the record April snowfall at 10.0″.  The latest it has ever snowed in Richmond is April 28 (that happened in 1898).
