LAWRENCE, Mass. (WTVR) — A Massachusetts mother risked her life earlier this month to save her twin toddlers from a moving vehicle. WCVB reports Mindy Tran is now bound to a wheelchair and unable to walk after her motherly instincts kicked and she tried to save her twin toddlers from a rolling car.

Mindy Tran’s is recovering after her right leg was dislocated and her left knee was crushed.

“I had to use myself as a speed bump to slow it down enough for one of my neighbors to get in and completely stop the car,” Tran said.

The accident happened days after the 22-year-old signed a lease at her new apartment.

She backed her Honda into the garage on March 6, put the car in park and had her 2-year-olds buckled into the back seat when she says got out to lock her front door and saw the car moving.

“I was like what is going on and I see my daughter sitting there in the backseat and of course my first instinct is I have to push the car back into the driveway.” Tran said.

The mother of two feared the car would go down her steep driveway and into the busy street, so she got on the ground and let the car partially roll over her in order to stop the vehicle.

“My daughters are my everything, my everything and I don’t want to see them in the hospital and I knew at that time it was either mine or there’s.”
