Undercover sting targets pot sales in park near VCU

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – VCU Police have asked for help finding two men accused of selling marijuana in Monroe Park. Leland Morton, 39, and Darryl Yancey, 46, were indicted on two counts of sale of marijuana in a school zone and distribution of marijuana, according to VCU Police.

“Anyone with information that can help police locate Morton or Yancey should contact VCU Police at (804) 828-1196,” police said.

The suspects were identified during an undercover investigation into marijuana sales in the park near VCU campus. Others arrested as part of the investigation include:

  • Terrance Carmichael, 32, of Richmond, on seven indictments for the sale of marijuana in a school zone and the distribution of marijuana
  • Charles Ferguson, 43, of Richmond, on two indictments for the sale of marijuana in a school zone and distribution of marijuana
  • Aziz “Black” Scott, 51, of Richmond, on eight indictments for the sale of marijuana in a school zone and the distribution of marijuana
  • Mark Ramon, 31, of Richmond, on marijuana possession after the Richmond Police Department narcotics detection dog indicated the presence of marijuana.
  • Joseph Jackson, 59, of Richmond, on marijuana possession.

“None of the suspects is affiliated with VCU,” police said.
