Chesterfield man charged with drunk driving at twice the legal limit

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va (WTVR) -- Chesterfield police said an early morning crash in the 1700 block of Mountain Pine Boulevard, was the result of a drunk driver who may have been going the wrong way. The crash happened before 3 a.m. in North Chesterfield.

When investigators arrived they tell CBS 6 News the man driving, identified as Robert Vaughn, hit an unoccupied SUV. The crash caused the SUV to be pushed into a neighbor's yard. There was damage to both Vaughn's and the unoccupied vehicle. Fortunately there were no injuries.

Vaughn, who lives in the area where the crash happened, was charged and taken to jail. Detectives said at the time of his arrest, the accused drunk driver had a blood alcohol level of .16 which is twice the legal limit.
