Near-record cold chills RVA

Posted

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - This morning is a record-cold one for March for many of you.

Richmond, though, was just one degree shy of tying the all-time March coldest temperature set in 2009 of 10 degrees. We are so cold this morning because of the ideal combination of snowpack, clear skies overnight and light northerly winds.

The rest of "Fat Tuesday" will be partly cloudy and cold, with highs in the lower to mid 30s.

However, any snow and ice melt we get today (that doesn't evaporate) will refreeze tonight as black ice patches, especially on secondary roads and untreated pavement.
