RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – An investigation is underway and two people are in police custody after being apprehended outside John Marshall High School Wednesday afternoon.

Richmond Public Schools Spokesperson Felicia Cosby said in a news release that school security officers found two trespassers outside of John Marshall High School when students were being dismissed.

As the pair were escorted off of the property, security officials saw that each of them were armed with a gun.

As a result, Richmond police were called to assist and as a precautionary measure, Ginter Park Elementary and Henderson Middle School were placed on a code red or lockdown for a short period.

“Our transportation department distributed a ParentLink message to parents at the affected schools informing them that their students may be delayed getting home as a result of the Code Red,” Cosby wrote.

CBS 6 has calls out to Richmond police about this incident and hopes to have more information soon.
