Downtown gas leak prompts office evacuation

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – An afternoon gas leak forced the evacuation of the Virginia Employment Commission building located at 703 E. Main St., according to Virginia Capitol Police Capt. Raymond Goodloe.

VEC workers were order to leave the building after a work crew struck a gas line on 7th and Cary Streets.

After crews turned off the gas and stopped the leak, VEC workers were allowed back inside the office building.
