(CNN) -- Three Portland, Oregon, teens are accused of luring a classmate into a shed, hitting him in the head with a crowbar, shooting him with a BB gun -- and then using a box cutter to carve a swastika into his forehead.

"There is no understanding what they did," Kelli Murrain, the victim's mother, told CNN affiliate KPTV. "Roll it around in your head and you just go, 'Oh my God.' For the grace of God I could have lost my youngest son."

The incident took place February 10, police say.

On Wednesday, authorities charged the teens with kidnapping, robbery, assault and menacing.

OregonTeenSuspectsThe suspects -- Jenna Montgomery, 15, Blue Christian Kalmbach, 15, and Jess Taylor, 17 -- have been charged as adults and were being held on nearly $3 million bail each.

A 14-year-old, also accused of taking part, will be tried as a juvenile.

According to court documents, Montgomery told police detectives that she was the "bait" to lure the 16-year-old victim, Dustyn Murrain, to the shed where the alleged assault took place.

The teens were after the victim's skateboard and cash, according to a probable cause affidavit.

All of them are students at David Douglas High School.

"I just think the whole idea is just messed up," senior Mark Collins told affiliate KATU. "Why would you do that to someone? Especially with a crowbar and BB gun."

It's not clear whether the wound on Dustyn's forehead will scar.

Kelli Murrain said her son will wear a silicon patch there to help with the healing.

"He's been severely traumatized not just physically, but emotionally," Murrain said. "It's something he's gonna live with forever, especially if the scar of (a) swastika doesn't go away. Every time he looks in the mirror he's gonna have that memory."

I thought minors identities were protected when reporting crimes? Does Oregon relase that info? Virginia doesn’t, right? Is it a violation to report that fact in this state?

They are being tried as adults – and it’s a good thing too. What they did was outrageous. What I do not understand is why you are focused on the media releasing their names and not on the crime they committed.

So it’s typical suburban teen behavior to drag another teen into a shed, beat him with a crowbar, shoot him with a BB gun, and carve a swastika in his head? What suburb did you grow up in? I ask because nothing like this ever happened in the suburb I grew up in.

white people, I tell you. If they were black, you would see so many racist comments. The comments are so cute (they sweep things under the rug) when the criminal is white. Its so funny to read the comments when the criminal(s) is white then click on a story where the criminal is black.

White people can do no wrong.accept it and life will be easier. Its their world and always will be.The only lesson you need to see is who came up and made it and who did’nt.

OR you can put that race card back in the deck and work hard and seize the opportunities that are available for ALL of us.

It’s so archaic to sit back and use race as an excuse these days. For every race baiting argument a black person makes a white person could respond with some tale of affirmative action that took place in their respective work environment.

It’s becoming an argument for the weak and lazy that wouldn’t excel at anything even if it was handed to them.

This has nothing to do with opportunities…..thats a different topic. Face it….black people commit crimes and so do white people. You lump all black people into one category; you are racist. As Glen Allen stated, this has nothing to do with race. However, when ignorant people like you feel/comment differently about a white criminal versus a black criminal, you make it about race. Enough of me wasting time on your ignorance.

Wake up folks, this is not about race, this about 3 or 4 (if you include the 14 year old) human beings inflicting torture on another human being. These people should not be allowed to be in the general population ever until their brains can be evaluated, and a cure can be identified.
