Man arrested for pickpocketing at Stafford churches

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) —  A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with pickpocketing incidents at two Stafford County churches in January.

Adam Jarrett Booth, of no fixed address, was charged with four Counts of Credit Card Theft, 1 Count of Grand Larceny and 1 Count of Petit Larceny.

Investigators said that Booth walked into Mt. Ararat Baptist Church at 1112 Garrisonville Rd. on Jan. 9 and spoke briefly with an employee. Once the suspect walked out of the church, the employee noticed his wallet was missing.

Then on Jan. 12 , Stafford deputies were called to Rock Hill Baptist Church for another report of another missing wallet. Officials said that the same man spoke briefly with a member of the church, asking about the church and then was seen leaving the church parking lot in a tan vehicle. It was then that a member of the church noticed that her wallet was missing.

Booth was arrested without incident on Feb. 10 when the car he was driving was spotted on Garrisonville Rd. Stafford County.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said the department received a tips from the public that helped lead to Booth’s arrest.
