RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVR) -- An 11-year-old boy is in critical condition after an attempted suicide late last month.

Michael Morones' parents say that Michael was bullied by students at school because he was a fan of the cartoon, "My Little Pony." The show has a growing fan base, many of them called "bronies." The show's motto is reiterated throughout every episode: "friendship is magic."

Michael could apparently no longer handle the torrential amount of bullying he was up against.

“He hung himself off the side of the bunk bed, off the railing,” Michael's mother said.

Michael was rushed to the hospital when his parents found him, but the oxygen going to his brain had already been cut off. Michael faces potentially life-long brain damage.

There has been a fund set up to help with Michael's care, but also to start a nonprofit to aid in bullying problems.
