GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A body, believed to be that of missing Waynesboro Police Department Reserve Unit Captain Kevin Quick, was discovered today off Old Columbia Road in Goochland County, near the Fluvana county line.

Waynesboro Police Department members are waiting, along with Quick's family and friends, for a positive identification to be made.

Quick disappeared Friday night after he left his mother’s Afton home. He was going to see the mother of his four-month-old daughter, about 20 miles away, at the time of his disappearance. Multiple police sources believe the motive was robbery, and the crime was random.

A search warrant indicates that the last communication on Quick's phone--a text message--was made to his girlfriend.  The phone was shut off around 10:54 p.m. and never used again.

Quick’s 4Runner was first spotted on camera in Fork Union, then the next day in Manassas.

The spot where the body believed to be Quick's was found is located roughly 10-15 miles away from the ATM where Quick's bank account was first accessed 45 minutes after he went missing Friday, according to search warrant affidavits.

Quick was laid off from his work at a Waynesboro plant several weeks ago, after almost two decades of service. He received a severance payment at the time, a sum of money which authorities have not accounted for, according to court documents.

The 4Runner was later located Monday, in the 3600 block of Cedar Hill Road in Louisa County, not far from where suspect Daniel Mathis allegedly discharged a firearm at a teenager on Sunday, and where the 4Runner was seen being used as his getaway vehicle.

Mathis was visiting a friend who lived on Mica Street, on Super Bowl Sunday, when the visit turned violent, according to police and the teen's father.

Police sources tell CBS 6 that there could be additional people involved in the crime.

Photographs were released that featured two unidentified adult men who investigators believe may have information regarding Quick’s disappearance.

That language was later amended by State Police to "individual"--not man--after the arrest of three siblings. Police have not made it clear who they believe the person in the released photo is at this time, or if there are indeed other suspects.

Earlier Thursday, a judge denied bond to all three Albemarle County siblings arrested in connection with the Quick’s disappearance. Their home address, on Barracks Road in Charlottesville, is under two miles from the apartments where Quick was headed.

The siblings are being held in the Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange County.
