Man charged in Midlothian Turnpike lighter fluid attack

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – One man was charged with aggravated assault, accused of throwing lighter fluid in another man’s face during an early morning fight.

Robert W. Walls, Jr., 48, of Richmond, was detained at the scene.

When police were called to the 6300 block of Midlothian Turnpike, near German School Rd., about 2 a.m. Tuesday, they found a man suffering from facial burns.

Robert W. Walls Jr.Walls and the other man were arguing when Walls threw lighter fluid in the other man’s face, police said. At no point was the lighter fluid lit, investigators added.

The victim was taken from the scene in an ambulance, his condition has not been released.

Police have not yet said what led to the attack, nor if the men knew each other.
