Chesterfield teacher arrested for stealing from students, school and fellow teachers

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A Chesterfield County school teacher is charged with stealing property from school, students and other teachers.

Police arrested Julia C. White, 51, at her Hailsham Circle home. She is charged with felony embezzlement, larceny with intent to sell/distribute stolen property, burglary, three counts of grand larceny and two counts of petit larceny, according to police.

"The investigation indicates that she stole items while employed as a teacher at O.B. Gates Elementary School. The school division has removed White from the school," police wrote in an email.

Stolen items, according to police, include:

  • School supplies
  • Teaching aids
  • Furniture for the classrooms
  • Books
  • Four large rugs that had an alphabet design on them
  • Other school related items.

"These are very serious charges and the employee has been removed from the school. The employee will not return to the school pending the disposition of the charges and the administrative process," Chesterfield County Schools spokesman Shawn Smith wrote in an email.
