GLOUCESTER, Va. (WTVR) -- While Central Virginia saw a lot of rain Saturday, other parts of the state suffered from severe weather.

Tornado watches and warnings were issued for many parts of Southeastern Virginia as well as severe thunderstorm warnings.

The severe weather impacted Gloucester, causing downed tree limbs to litter the streets. James City County experienced even more damage from high speed winds.

Central Virginians, despite not having experienced quite the severity of the weather in the Southeast, say they had to pay extra attention while on the road Saturday.

The storms caused about 15,000 power outages throughout the Southeast region, while the metro area reported only 500 outages. A spokesperson for Virginia Dominion Power said that almost all of the outages in the metro Richmond area have been restored.

Dominion says that the number of outages in the Southeast has been reduced to less than 4,000. The power company also said they plan to work through the night to restore power to customers.

CBS 6 Meteorologist Mike Goldberg says that the storm has moved through the Commonwealth. Mike also said the clouds have cleared up, and the stars are out! Take a look at our weather page at any time to get updates on storm tracking.
