CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WCAV)–There were new developments Wednesday in the investigation of a “knockout game” style attack on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville.
Police were called to the Downtown Mall shortly before 2 a.m. on Dec. 20th to investigate a report of a unconscious man near the Blue Light Grill. A woman at the scene told officers she and another man were attacked by three African-American men.
Charlottesville Police have charged 25-year-old Malcolm James Stevenson and 23-year-old Richard Bernard Spears, both of Charlottesville, with assault.
Both Stevenson and Spears turned themselves in to a detective at the Charlottesville Police Department, where they were released on a permitted warrant.
Their first court appearance is scheduled for February 5th, 2014 at 9:00 a.m..
