CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – You know the saying you hear on TV, “don’t try this at home.” Well, it applies for this story too.
A Chesterfield man sent us an “after” photo of his frozen beard following a four-mile run Wednesday morning.
“I went for a quick 4 mile run this morning in Chesterfield. Yes, it was cold,” Justin Smith wrote in the note that accompanied his frozen beard photo. “I’m training for the Tough Mudder and the Richmond Marathon.”
Tough Mudder is in June and the Richmond Marathon is not until the fall, giving RVA plenty of time to thaw out from this morning’s deep freeze.
Speaking of this morning’s run.
“I’m fine. It really wasn’t that bad,” Smith wrote in a follow-up email. “After the first mile I had to start shedding layers.”
Smith said he took his frozen beard selfie about 6:45 a.m. after his 40-minute, four- run.
After posting the frozen selfie on Facebook, Smith’s friends reacted with a combination of shock, humor and awe.
“The beard will protect you,” his friend Dave wrote. “It’s like a warm wool face blanket.”
“I think your ‘Man Card’ just became platinum, bro,” commented Kevin.
“You know that’s what you’re going to look like at 60,” chimed in Karl.
