RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond music venue Kingdom posted a Facebook message that it was closing – for good.

“Kingdom has decided to close its doors. It’s been rad!,” the post read. “Thanks to all of the great bands who have played the venue and the awesome music scene for supporting us.”

A reason for the closing was not provided. A request for more information was left with Kingdom’s owner.

Kingdom was located at 10 Walnut Alley in Richmond’s Shockoe Bottom neighborhood.

This is a developing story.

good… the kingdom was a nice venue as far as atmosphere and all… but the pay to play policy was garbage…. even the battle of the bands events were like that…. totally ridiculous… local bands shouldnt have to fork out the bill in order to open for touring bands…. local bands should be treated well and be given the opportunity to share the stage with bands they love….
