Deputies attempted to deliver the warrant to Joseph P. Hooker, who was wanted for threatening to burn a house.

When Deputies approached the residence, Hooker exited and fled on foot.

Deputies pursued Hooker on foot until he jumped into the Chickahominy River.

Hooker swam across the Chickahominy River and exited on the Henrico side, Hanover Sheriff's Capt. Michael Trice said.

When a CBS 6 photojournalist arrived on scene, he was asked not to go any farther and to turn off all lights.  There were about 25 officers at the location.

Henrico Police coordinated efforts to locate Hooker.

Henrico Police, utilizing the SWAT team, located Hooker in a structure behind a residence in the 10800 block of Winfrey Road. This was adjacent to the property we originally reported on Bent Pine Road. This area is near Woodman Road.

Hooker was transported to a local hospital for treatment related to exposure to the elements.  Once released Hooker will be transported to Pamunkey Regional Jail where the arrest warrants will be executed.
