Phil Robertson is the patriarch of the Robertson family as seen in A&E's "Duck Dynasty."

(Access Hollywood) — Less than two weeks after Phil Robertson’s anti-gay controversy got him temporarily suspended from his A&E reality series, the 67-year-old “Duck Dynasty” star is making headlines once again.

In a newly surfaced 2009 video posted on YouTube, Robertson shares some of his dating advice, which includes that men should marry girls as young as 15.

“Make sure that she can cook a meal,” Robertson is heard telling a group in Georgia in the 2009 video. “You need to eat some meals that she cooks, check that out.”

“Make sure she carries her Bible,” the reality star continued. “That’ll save you a lot of trouble down the road. And if she picks your ducks, now, that’s a woman.”

According to Robertson, for men to successfully find the right woman, the man should make sure she’s young.

“They got to where they getting hard to find, mainly because these boys are waiting ‘til they get to be about 20 years old before they marry them,” Robertson said at the time. “Look, you wait ‘til they get to be 20 years old the only picking that’s going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16. They’ll pick your ducks. You need to check with mom and dad about that, of course.”

According to E!, in Robertson’s home state of Louisiana, it is legal to marry at 16 with the consent of the minor’s parents.

this guys starting to sound like he may have a couple screws lose.Funny they claim to be simple men living off the land and such but in reality their just over paid redneck tv stars. They have nothing in common with the simple man.

    • Manalishi

Never hear that claim dan, you have a source or just blather? Duck and Buck Commander product lines were a 200 million $ empire before A&E. Screws loose? yup. And they can afford it. On the bright side, they aren’t democrats.

  • Daniel Beasley

I think every male out there needs to be able to cook, clean, and sew for their self. You wont have to look for a woman, they will come to you.

Seems to me that tolerance is a one way street – If you don’t agree with the liberal agenda you are immediately labeled a “hater” – Yet they ram their agenda down our throats every day – example – the tv show Modern Family

    • Bob

Guess what Henry? If you don’t like the show Modern Family, you don’t have to watch it. No one is ramming anything down your throat. (That sounds like you have something else going on relating to this topic…) I would never waste my time watching the dumbasses on Duck Dynasty. Don’t like it, then don’t watch it. The use religion as a means to justify their hate and complain about how they don’t have freedom of speech. That’s a one way street, if you aren’t a conservative, straight Christian, you are labeled as a heathen.

Wow! The horrendous abundance of media personel and responding people who demonstrate such absolute stupidity regarding Robertson’s statement. Scares the hell out of me. You all clearly need to become better educated. The intent behind Robertson’s aforementioned advice has NO malintent, perverse, abusive or “redneck” connection at all. Check your own genealogical background and the historical information of our world. Women did marry early in life. Many circumstances and reasons abound. You “jump on the bandwagon” people who turned his statement inside out and upside down are an embarrassment to the human race. Your ignorance is disgusting.

    • Paul Aurelius

Wow. If you want to defend his statement by saying that at some point in any person’s genealogy, someone was married at a very early age, you are are just another backwards redneck who belongs in the past with them good ol’ folks in Mississippi and Alabama. Women TODAY go to college and become doctors, lawyers, and CEOs, etc. For someone to come out and imply that women today should start bearing children as soon as they begin menstruating and stay at home all day and make sammiches for their husband whos 20 years older than him is DISGUSTING. Nobody is turning his statements inside out. They are already inside out. At 15-16, girls that age should be in High School playing sports and getting ready for college, not pregnant and barefoot in some 45 year old’s trailer. You make me sick.

  • Sandra

Seriously? My mom married at 16 and my grandma at 15. It is how it was done. Watch the video before Making judgment. I ALWAYS do. Reporters don’t always quote it in the correct way it was said. Like how you can’t read the light hearted way he is saying it. I found it funny. You know the man has a dry sense of humor which can be picked up on in the video.
What will they drag up next.

  • Debra

Why is the media digging something up from the past? They just don’t quit do they. Don’t forget he is old school and from the South. Back then what he is saying was normal! Give the family a break! They were rich before A&E even got ahold of them. If the media would just leave them alone, we wouldn’t know what they said 5 years ago!

    • Henry

@shawn – You missed a few POS’s – Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chuck Shumer, “criminal” Charlie Rangel, etc…
