Rainfall from the first half of Sunday totaled one to two inches across the area.  This represented about ten hours of rainfall from overnight through midday.

This rainfall event brings the monthly total up to above six inches for the Richmond area.  This makes it the sixth wettest December on record.

Little to no precipitation is expected through New Year’s Eve, so the ranking of sixth will stay in place.

The annual rainfall total is just out of the top ten.  It would need to hit 54.16″ to tie for tenth wettest.  However, this year’s total surpasses last year’s by over 17 inches.
