Police: ‘knockout game’ suspects recorded assault of homeless man

HENRICO, Va. (WTVR) - A homeless man was assaulted early Saturday morning in a McDonald's parking lot by two suspects, while another videotaped the incident.

According to Henrico police, shortly before 5 a.m., the victim alerted police he had been assaulted at a McDonald's located on the 7100 block W. Broad Street.

The victim was sleeping when he was approached by three suspects. He was then assaulted by two suspects, which one of them slapped him on the back of his neck.  The third suspect videotaped it.

When the suspects fled, the victim chased them until he lost sight of them.

Sources told CBS 6 that the motive was consistent with a knockout game.

The suspects are described between the ages of 16 and 20 years old and around 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall.  One was wearing a red shirt, while another was wearing a blue shirt.

McDonald's employees told CBS 6 that there are surveillance cameras on both sides and the back of the building.  They are working with police.
