NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WTVR) – A three-year-old child is in protective custody after he was left behind at a park in Newport News.
Police found the boy “Malik” on Friday near a dumpster by the Sedgefield Elementary School playground. After they found Malik, police were unable to locate his parents, but police eventually found them.
Authorities said Malik was alone due to miscommunication. His grandfather left him at the park, thinking his mother would pick him up.
After investigating the incident, police are still deciding whether if charges should be brought against his family.
