Barry RenertRICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The man accused of pulling a gun on his former boss at a baseball memorabilia store near the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York was arrested 500 miles away in Richmond — across the street from a baseball stadium.

Richmond Police picked up Barry Renert, 62, at the Greyhound bus station on Boulevard Tuesday. The station sits across the street from the Diamond, Richmond’s baseball stadium and home to the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

Renert was wearing all black and a mask at the time, police said.

The boss pulled out his own gun and fired at Renert. No one was seriously hurt.

“He pointed his gun at him, the store owner pulled his own handgun and fired a round, missing, and the other person fled the store,” Cooperstown Police Chief Michael Covert told WBNG in upstate New York.

Investigators were looking into whether Covert was stealing from the store, he added.
