FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WTVR) – Icy conditions are slowing traffic on Interstate 95 between Richmond and Washington, D.C.

VDOT has icy road warnings flashing on signs as far south as mile marker 122 near Fredericksburg.

“On I-95 at mile marker 130 in the City of Fredericksburg, motorists can expect potential delays due to a vehicle accident. The north left shoulder and left lane are closed,” VDOT warned on its website. “On VA-3 in the City of Fredericksburg, in the vicinity of the ramp from I-95S, motorists can expect potential delays due to a vehicle accident. The west left shoulder and left outside lane are closed.”

Icy conditions forced some school districts north and west of Richmond to delay the start of school.

Spotsylvania, Fluvanna, Buckingham and Orange County schools opened two hours late. Louisa County schools delayed opening by one hour.
