KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WBIR) - When two foster kids sent up a prayer request in a balloon, they never thought they would see it again.

They did. Now their prayers have been answered with a new home for the holidays.

Eva, 6, and Jasmine, 8, asked to be adopted by their new mother and father on Christmas.

During vacation bible school over the summer, the girls sent up their prayer request in a balloon. At the time, the girls had only lived with their foster parents for two months, however both had already made up their minds.

"We took all of the prayer requests and we sealed them in a little zip lock bag. We took them outside and released these balloons there was thirty of them. The girls balloon is the only one to this day that has come back to us," their adoptive mother Lynn said.

The balloon traveled from their church in east Tennessee all the way to Maryland. It landed in an RV park and the people who found it quickly mailed it back.

"I can just see God taking this balloon and blowing it in the right direction. To be found and be sent back to us to tell us he approves for us to be able to adopt these girls," Lynn said.

Lynn and her husband Dennis worked quickly to adopt the girls before Christmas.

"It just felt like the right thing to do. Its what I wanted to do. All of our children total are grown in their 30s," Dennis said. "It was an answered prayer."

With some extra effort from the agencies who work to find children "forever families," a judge made the adoption official this week.
