Home for the holidays, soldiers return Monday

FORT LEE, Va. (WTVR) – Their six-month deployment is coming to an end. Forty-four soldiers from the Army’s 54th Quartermaster Company will return to Fort Lee on Monday. The men and women have spent the last six months away from their families, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Kuwait and Afghanistan.

"The 54th Quartermaster Company is one of the Army’s only two active duty mortuary affairs units, which are both based here. The returning Soldiers have been gone since May 28, the day after Memorial Day," Ft. Lee said in a statement.

The redeployment ceremony is scheduled for Monday at 5 p.m.
