CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WTVR) - Virginia Senator Creigh Deeds was upgraded to good condition Wednesday. Deeds remains under the care of doctors at University of Virginia Medical Center.

Police said Deeds' son, Gus Deeds, stabbed his father multiple times during a fight in their Bath County home Tuesday morning. Police said it appeared the 24-year-old shot and killed himself after stabbing his father. Autopsy results for Gus Deeds were expected to be released later Wednesday.

Deeds' family friends said Gus was served an Emergency Custody Order earlier this week.

That means his behavior indicated he was a danger to himself or others. He was ordered to have a mental evaluation. The Bath County Sheriff also confirmed deputies made visited the family's home Monday.

A vigil for Creigh Deeds, organized by College Republicans and University Democrats groups at the University of Virginia, is scheduled to take place Thursday evening in the UVa. Amphitheater on Grounds.
