MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (WTVR) - Virginia Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling and his wife helped kick off the annual American Red Cross "Holiday Mail for Heroes" program in Mechanicsville.
The Bollings and local Red Cross CEO Reggie Gordon joined the students and staff of Washington-Henry Elementary School Monday morning. Lt. Gov. Bolling and Gordon both spoke to students during the event.
Jean Ann Bolling read "My Sailor Dad" to the students during the storytelling portion of the event.
The students participating had an opportunity to make holiday cards to send to members of the military. The American Red Cross said the cards and personal messages provide a welcome “touch of home" for our troops during the holiday season.
