UPDATE: Man in Virginia Tech hoodie wanted for Hanover crime

UPDATE: Investigators released photos of the dark colored pickup truck believed to be the suspect’s getaway vehicle.

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A man wearing a burgundy Virginia Tech hoodie tried to rob a Hanover convenience store, according to the sheriff’s office. The man walked into the store along the 11200 block of Washington Highway about 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

“The suspect demanded money from the clerk, but fled prior to receiving any money,” the Hanover Sheriff’s Office wrote in an email. “A weapon was not displayed and no one was injured.”

Investigators described the suspect as a white man with:

  • gray hair
  • gray goatee
  • 5’10” to 6’0” tall
  • weighing 190-200 pounds
  • Last seen wearing a burgundy Virginia Tech hoodie, blue jeans, and brown shoes.
  • Last seen headed North on Washington Highway in a newer model teal Ford F-150 crew cab pickup truck.
