CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va (WTVR) -- Police have arrested a man believed to be responsible for a string of robberies across the metro.

Robert C. Hylton, 42, of Chesterfield, has been charged with attempted robbery and robbery in cases out of  Richmond and Chesterfield.  Investigators said it was the keen eye of Hylton's last victim that helped them find the alleged serial robber.

Around 8:30 p.m. detectives said Hylton robbed the Donut Connection at 7021 Hull Street Road. He was able to get away with plenty of dough--hundreds of dollars in fact. Hylton never displayed a gun, according to police, but he is said to have threatened the clerk and demanded money.

Soon after the robbery, Richmond police spotted the suspect's white SUV in the 2000 block of Maury Street, using the clerk's description.

In addition to the doughnut shop robbery, investigators said Hylton is also connected to the Nov. 2 attempted robbery of the Baskin-Robins at 6940 Forest Hill Avenue and the robbery of the Martin’s at 3000 Stony Point Road that same evening in Richmond.  And Chesterfield police have charged Hylton with the Nov. 2 robbery of the Family Dollar at 8501 Midlothian Turnpike, in addition to the doughnut robbery.

Both Richmond and Chesterfield detectives are working together on this case.
