DIXON, Ill. (CBS/WTVR) — There is no way to put this delicately: There is a church in Dixon that looks like a penis.

Once upon a time it would have likely gone unnoticed with exception perhaps of an aircraft.

Now, just type this phrase “Christian Science Society, 324 West First Street, Dixon Ill.,” into Google and see what pops up.

The church’s designers certainly didn’t intend to build a giant penis and they weren’t compensating for anything–other than nature.

The church built around an oak tree on the property, and has an environmentally friendly design that maximizes lighting from a Southern exposure.

On its Facebook page, the Christian Science Society super-imposed a “fig leaf” over the Google maps satellite image.

Their attempt to take the joke in stride was well received on their page.

“Way to “turn the other cheek” and up the humor index!” Sarah Sonke said.

“Kind of inspiring to now know the real story of saving the old tree and building such an energy efficient structure with space in front for passers-by to sit down,” Alan F. Egner said. “I bet it’s beautiful inside.”
