RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - A man was taken to VCU Medical Center with serious injures after a work zone crash on Interstate 95 in Richmond. The crash closed all southbound lanes of I-95 near the Maury St. exit about 10 a.m. while emergency crews responded and later cleaned up the scene.

By 12:30 p.m., all lanes had reopened and traffic delays were minor, according to Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Lindsay LeGrand.

"A vehicle traveling south on I-95 ran off the right side of the road and struck a Ford F-650 pickup truck. The pickup truck was part of a temporary work zone set up by a VDOT contractor," Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller wrote in an email. Geller said the work zone was properly marked and offered drivers advanced warning.

The driver of the F-650 pickup truck, Brandon Davis, age 21,  suffered minor injuries, Geller said.  The driver of the Pathfinder, Trent Davis, age 30, was transported to VCU Medical Center for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Trenta Davis has been charged with reckless driving and for driving on a revoked license.

"Crash is still under investigation at this time," Geller said.

Geller also said the work zone was properly marked and offered drivers advanced warning. The pickup truck parked on the right shoulder as part of a temporary, active work zone set up by a VDOT contractor.
