RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- Democrat Terry McAuliffe is holding on to a four point lead against Republican Ken Cuccinelli according to the latest Quinnipiac poll.Meanwhile, Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis has nine percent. McAuliffe leads 45 to 41 percent.

The results of a poll released by Quinnipiac University a week ago had McAuliffe up by seven points.

“For the past several weeks, political pundits have written off Ken Cuccinelli well before any polls have opened or closed, but we have consistently maintained that we know this is a margin race as exhibited in today’s Quinnipiac University poll," Cuccinelli strategist Chris LaCivita said in a statement. "The experts can say what they will but our campaign intends to deliver its message on Election Day.”

If Sarvis were not in this race, Quinnipiac University says the race would be too close to call -- McAuliffe would lead Cuccinelli 47 to 45 percent.

Either way, likely voters in Virginia still aren't enthused about this election. Mcauliffe has a negative 41 - 46 favorability rating while Cuccinelli has a negative 40 - 52 percent favorablilty rating.

Virginia voters will elect a new governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general on November 5.
