CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- A woman who works as an athletic trainer at Monacan High School was arrested for having a sexual relationship with a student athlete, according to a media release from Chesterfield Police.

Kristin L. S. Beck, 30, is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Beck is a private contractor who is not employed by Chesterfield County Public Schools, according to police.

"The offense did not occur on school property," police wrote.

CBS 6 spoke with Monacan High School parents at Friday night's football game at Clover Hill High School.

Natasha Hamlin is a parent of a varsity football player at Monacan. She said Beck was the athletic trainer for the high school football team and her son knew the former trainer.

"He thought that she was very nice and always taking great care of him and he was very surprised when he heard that," she said.

Hamlin said as soon as she heard the news she immediately talked to her son about the alleged incident. She told CBS 6 it should be a lesson for all parents to talk to their children.

"Some kids may keep it as a secret, and they need to know that they need to speak with their parents about it," she said.

"Chesterfield Police notified the school division October 24, 2013 of a community investigation involving an employee of Chippenham and Johnston Willis Hospitals, Inc.  This community investigation did not involve anything occurring on school property," Chesterfield Schools Spokesman Shawn Smith said in a statement. "Chippenham and Johnston Willis Hospitals, Inc. is a contractor for the school division providing medical support services.  As required by Virginia law, the contract requires Chippenham and Johnston Willis Hospitals, Inc. to certify that their employees have not been convicted of a felony or any offense involving the sexual molestation or physical or sexual abuse or rape of a child."

Beck was released on summons. She is scheduled to appear in Chesterfield Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court Wednesday, Oct. 30.
