DINWIDDIE, Va. (WTVR) - Just down the road from Sutherland Road in Dinwiddie County is Namozine Road.
It was blocked off briefly Tuesday night when a Med-flight landed in a corn field and carried a teenage car accident victim to VCU Medical Center.
Troopers said the 17-year-old driver was heading down Sutherland and lost control of his car near Oxford Drive. They said the teen ran off the left side of the road and over-corrected.
When the car turned over, the teen was ejected. His car came to a rest down the road and up an embankment.
Troopers used a wheel to measure the skid marks.
Irving Wicks, who lives 100 feet away, said he is not surprised by the accident.
"I don't know,” Wicks said. “They exceed the speed limit all of the time. I've complained and I haven't even come close to getting to first base with it."
Troopers said the teen suffered serious, life-threatening injuries.
They said it was not clear if the driver was wearing a seat belt. The investigation is ongoing.
