A series of cold fronts will pass through the area between Tuesday and Friday of next week.  This will allow progressively cooler air to spill in for the middle and end of the week.

A change in the upper-air pattern will cause a dip in the jet stream, and this will let the colder air from central and northern Canada to settle southward.

Highs by the end of the week will struggle to get out of the upper 50s, and some overnight lows will dip into the 30s.  Some frost or freezing conditions will be possible Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings, especially outside of the metro and far southeastern Virginia.

If the highs fail to reach 59°, it will be the coolest high temperatures since early Spring.
