CHATTAROY, Wash. (WTVR) – Police found a Washington state couple, killed in a weekend crash, holding hands in the wreckage. Floyd Nordhagen, 92, and Margaret (Kathryn) Nordhagen, 88, had been married for 68 years, reported KREM.com.
“I don’t know if they were holding hands before he passed, or if she grabbed him afterwards but it doesn’t matter,” family friend “Britches” Peden said. “They would have been holding hands if they could. So that’s the way we all want to remember them.”
Police said the couple’s vehicle was hit when they pulled out in front of the truck.
“You don’t see that everyday,” Trooper Rob Spencer told the news station. “We actually had to ask her to let go of him, so we could get him out of the car.” Margaret Nordhagen died shortly thereafter.
Floyd and Margaret Nordhagen leave behind four children, eleven grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
