The Washington Post has officially endorsed Democratic candidate for governor, Terry McAuliffe.

"His flaws notwithstanding, McAuliffe represents continuity in a state that has been well served by comity, compromise and political co-existence between the parties,” the editorial read.

McAuliffe has been leading over opponents Ken Cuccinelli and Robert Sarvis in the polls.

The latest survey from Quinnipiac University puts him up over Cuccinelli, 47 to 39 percent. His lead is the percentage that Sarvis currently has in the polls.

The Associated Press also reports that former first lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is coming to Virginia in an event aimed at mobilizing support among women for McAuliffe.

William Clinton, on behalf of the Democractic National Committee, is fundraising on behalf of McAuliffe also.
