CHESTER, Va. (WTVR) - The Confederate Battle flag that created a nationwide buzz when it was announced over the summer can barely be seen by driving along Interstate 95.  The Virginia Flaggers raised the flag Saturday morning.

Since the flag raising, no incidents have been reported to police.

While trees mostly obscure the flag from I-95 traffic, some neighbors worry that once the autumn leaves fall, drivers will be left with the wrong impression of the area.

"They should have a history thing about it, you know, explain why it's here," neighbor Franklin Nichols said. "Not just come up out of the blue and put something up."

The Virginia Flaggers, who declined an on-camera interview, called the flag a work in progress. They said they hoped more people would eventually realize the true intent behind the flag.
