RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond will soon be home to an apartment building designed to house and help young adults with autism.

The Faison Residence, which will sit on the corner of  West Broad Street and Byrd Avenue, will be the first of its kind “autism community” on the East Coast.

The $15 million Faison Residence will consist of 45 apartments. One third of the apartments will house young adults with developmental disabilities, according to The Faison Centers of Excellence. The remaining apartments will house “teachers, nursing assistants and other compassionate professionals.”

People who live in the community will not only receive medical attention, but also educational, recreational and social opportunities.
