CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - The man who prompted a police plane and K9 search Monday night in Midlothian has been found and arrested.

William R. McAlexander, 44, was wanted on four counts of felony larceny and two counts of burglary in connection to an incident at Caddy's, a restaurant on Midlothian Turnpike. He was also driving a stolen car, according to Chesterfield Police.

Officers were waiting to arrest McAlexander Monday night around 10:40 p.m., but when he did not arrive at the location police expected him to be, they attempted to pull him over.

"McAlexander did not stop and a pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit, McAlexander's vehicle struck a police vehicle; the officer inside was not injured," police said via email.

McAlexander ditched the car along Lady Marian Ct. near Robious Middle School and ran into the woods. Despite the use of a police plane and K9 units, officers were not able to find McAlexander.

McAlexander eventually turned himself in to police on Tuesday morning. He is charged with felony eluding, assault on a police officer and reckless driving in relation to the pursuit.
