WOODSTOCK, Va. (WTVR) – The two-year-old boy who disappeared in the Shenandoah County woods Tuesday afternoon was found alive early Wednesday morning.
Jakob Heintzelman, discovered with his yellow lab Chance, was checked out at the hospital and then safely released into custody of his mother
Shenandoah County Sheriff Tim Carter posted the news on Facebook.
“He will be evaluated by medical personnel. Initial reports are that he is okay,” the sheriff posted. “Please know that we are so grateful for all of the volunteers (people who searched and supported this operation). There were also dozens of governmental and volunteer organizations involved in the effort and we are extremely thankful for their support and assistance.”
Officials in Shenandoah County said bloodhounds brought in from Fauquier County helped find the child.
In its initial missing child alert, the Shenandoah Sheriff’s Office said the 33-inch, 40-pound child was last seen with his yellow lab.
